About My Blog

Welcome to my blog. The name TransformerGirl comes from my favorite Bible verses, Romans 12:1-2, and I’ve used it since my hyper-charismatic days. Although I’ve reformed my faith, I still find this name fitting. As Christians, our lives are constantly being transformed to be more like Christ. This is the theme I weave throughout my blog posts, whether they are life updates, Bible studies, or reflections on my walk with God. I hope my content will encourage you.

"I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
Romans 12:1-2 ESV

About Me

Hey there, I’m Robin and I’ve got dreams of eventually being a full-time writer and/or podcaster. But for now, I’m happy with just a few posts a year. I’m a Christian, wife, mom, homeschool teacher, and homesteader. I’ve been married to my husband, Matt, since 2013, we have two young boys, and we live on a 15-acre homestead in northern Minnesota. We vlog about our homesteading journey on our YouTube channel, GunSmoke Farmstead. Life is full and always changing as I walk with the Lord. I hope my posts bring you joy and that we can learn and grow together.

About My Faith Journey & Beliefs

A little bit about me and my beliefs. I’m a born-again Christian believer, which means that I recognize the gospel message that Christ died for me while I was still a sinner and called me/regenerated me to have faith, repent of my sins, and be sanctified through the work of the Holy Spirit, who now indwells me. I was raised in the Roman Catholic church, though my mom constantly spoke about the core tenets of a more protestant faith, which seemed to cement a foundation. When I was 11 years old, we left the Catholic church, and we began occasionally attending an Evangelical Free church, and any pursuit of God became a side venture.

In my late 20s, I had a sudden urge to find a church for community. I didn’t understand why I felt this urge, but I sought out a church in my town and began attending. I wound up in a seeker sensitive/prosperity gospel/Word of Faith church in 2009. In 2011, I providentially heard the true gospel of Christ preached and the Lord graciously saved me. I continued in hyper-charismatic deception through 2020, even after leaving that church in 2017 and attending an Evangelical Free church from 2018-2020. Unfortunately, that church also included a lot of NAR and hyper-charismatic beliefs, along with some prophetic ministries. In my time at both churches, I was involved in deliverance ministry and some wonky political stuff. (Think Qanon and Greg Locke during his political rage preaching days).

In late 2019, God began convicting me that something was off with my beliefs, and I started searching. I was introduced to Mike Winger’s YouTube ministry and heard exegetical verse by verse preaching for the first time in my life. As I listened to Mike’s teachings and interviews, I took note of a documentary series that he repeatedly referred to called American Gospel. Once I watched the first two documentaries, the puzzle pieces began falling into place. All of the things I was being convicted of, but couldn’t make sense of, suddenly clicked and I understood how deceived I’d been and how much I had contributed to the deception of others. There was no turning back.

Since then, I have repented and become reformed in my theology, and I now attend a Baptist Church where the Pastors and most of the elders hold to Reformed (particular Baptist) Theology. Within this theology, I adhere to the 1689 London Baptist Confession, the 5 Solas, the sovereignty of God, Calvinistic Soteriology, Covenant Theology, and partial preterist Amillennialism, among others. Covenant theology includes the three main covenants covered in all of scripture: 1) The covenant of redemption where God the Father, Son and Spirit made a covenant to redeem creation. 2) The covenant of the law which Christ fulfilled to bring about the redemption. 3) The covenant of grace which is what we have received because of Christ fulfilling the law to bring about the redemption. I’ve also linked to some good explanations for each of the theological concepts listed above.
