It has come to my attention through our own search for a biblical church that many western churches use a method of preaching identified in this video as narcigesis (a form of inserting oneself into every part of the scriptures) versus good exegesis (critical interpretation of biblical text to discover its intended meaning) of the scriptures. My husband and I searched for years to find a doctrinally sound church, only to walk away almost every time with the same thought: “I know something’s not right. I just don’t know what.” My purpose in sharing this is to help others who may be struggling in the same way to identify what the problem could be. Perhaps you’ve stuck it out at your church with that thought in the back of your mind. I hope this video can help. Pastor Chris Rosebrough (the host in the video) has a long list of credentials, including a deep understanding of biblical languages. Obviously, we’re all capable of logic and reasoning, so I hope you’ll watch the video to decide for yourself whether this is applicable to your church or not. If it is, let me assure you, there are sound churches out there! Feel free to message me if you’d like a few resources to aid in finding one in your area.
